Fowler man killed in single-vehicle crash
BENTON COUNTY -- Alcohol and excessive speed led to a fatal crash Saturday morning on Indiana 352, said Benton County Sheriff Boston L. Pritchett.
Just after 5 a.m., a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled several times and came to rest on its side in a cornfield west of County Road 600 West, west of Boswell.
Jeremy A. Camp, 22 of Fowler, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
The Jeep was driven by Kara N. Crisp, 22, of Fowler, according to a release from the Benton County Sheriff's Department.
Ismael Caraballo III, 22 of Boswell, also was in the vehicle. All three occupants were ejected from the vehicle and all three were not wearing their safety belts, Pritchett stated.
Crisp and Caraballo were taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette before being transferred to United Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. They are both listed in critical condition with "internal injuries."
Man injured in motorcycle crash
Jay Anderson of Lafayette was "unconscious but breathing" after he ran his Honda motorcycle off of North Ninth Street and into a field just north of Lafayette.
Deputy Brandon Endicott of the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department said witness accounts believe Anderson was traveling south bound at "excess speed" before he lost control and ran into the field at Davis Ferry Park Road.
Endicott said Anderson, 46, was not wearing a helmet and it is "possible" that alcohol could have been involved with the crash.
Anderson was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital.
