A West Lafayette man was taken to jail Wednesday on suspicion of drunken driving a day after he had been injured in a crash.
Jeffrey W. Decker, 43, of West Lafayette was driving a 1996 Dodge Ram west on County Road 500 North, just west of Indiana 43 North. Shortly after 7 p.m., he lost control of the truck and drove into a ditch.
The car flipped over, and Decker was pinned inside. He was treated at St. Elizabeth Medical Center for lacerations to his head and then released.
Soon thereafter, he was arrested because police suspect he had been drunk at the time of the crash. He was booked into the Tippecanoe County Jail at 2:34 p.m. Wednesday.
Sgt. Kim Riley of the Indiana State Police said police believe alcohol contributed to the crash because they found alcoholic drinks inside the truck. Decker was not wearing a seat belt.
