20-year-old charged in triple fatality
...airlifted to Indy hospital

MONTMORENCI - A West Lafayette woman was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis late Friday night, after she was reportedly run over in a parking lot here by a truck driven by a West Lafayette man.

Michelle A. Kerfoot, 37, of West Lafayette was at Methodist Hospital today. Her condition wasn't immediately available.

According to a report from the Lafayette Metro Fatal Alcohol Crash Team, Michelle Kerfoot was riding in a pickup truck driven by Robert L. Kerfoot, 48, of 1905 Stillwell St. in Lafayette when she fell out of the passenger side door and was run over by the vehicle.

The incident occurred in a parking lot of GardenArt, at 3820 Walnut St. in Montmorenci between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Friday.

Robert Kerfoot was arrested on two class D felony charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury and failure to stop after an accident resulting in serious bodily injury. He also was charged with invasion of privacy, a class B misdemeanor.

A class D felony is punishable by up to three years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000. A class B misdemeanor is punishable by up to 180 days in prison and a maximum fine of $1,000.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Officer Tim Bonner of the Lafayette Police Department at (765) 807-1292.
