Staff Reports
Two men were in local hospitals Wednesday morning following an overnight head-on collision involving alcohol.
Kyle Kastor, 29, of Lafayette was driving west on Brady Lane just west of the intersection at Sagamore Parkway South at 12:21 a.m. Wednesday in a black, 2000 Mercedes when he crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a gold, 2000 Toyota Tundra traveling east, according to Sgt. Bob Baumgartner with the Lafayette Police Department.
Baumgartner said officers at the scene reported that a witness saw Kastor take off from the intersection at a high rate of speed, spinning the tires and fishtailing the vehicle.
It was about 100 yards from the intersection that Kastor crashed into the car of Anthony Burke, 20, of Indianapolis.
Police reported that Kastor had a BAC of 0.22, more than double the legal limit of 0.08. He was charged with operating while intoxicated.
Kastor, who suffered a knee injury and complained of head pain, was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center but was not admitted, hospital personnel said Wednesday.
His passenger, Adam Kasch, 27, of Logansport complained of neck pain and was taken to Home Hospital where he was listed in fair condition this morning.
Burke was taken to Home Hospital where he was treated for facial lacerations and released. His passenger, Erin Erickson, 19, of Lafayette refused medical treatment at the scene of the crash.
